Love and Lullabies

This morning as Jim was telling the kids good-bye, they decided to sing to him. He said they had asked him to sing a song last night when he put them to bed, and he had no idea what the "Dragon Tales" song was.  It is actually called "Godspeed" (by the Dixie Chicks), but the first words of the song are "Dragon Tales" so that's what they call it. Anyway, one of the lines they love most is

All my love will fly to you each night on angel's wings.
Godspeed.
Sweet Dreams.

I also love the part that says

God bless Mommy and matchbox cars.
God bless Daddy and thanks for the stars.
God hears Amen wherever we are,
And I love you.

As Lily and LittleMan sang these words with me, I saw tears well up in their Daddy's eyes. That moment just hit me right in the heart. It made my whole day.

He's just so sweet.

"Lullaby" is another song we sing each day too now, and my kids love. I'll never forget the first time I sang "Lullaby" to Owen.

They didn't have you where I come from.
I never knew the best was yet to come.
Life began when I saw your face, and I hear your laugh like a serenade.

How long do you want to be loved?
Is forever enough?
Is forever enough?
How long do you want to be loved?
Is forever enough?
'Cause I'm never ever giving you up.

When I sing this song to Lily, she holds my hand and snuggles right into me. She has asked me what the words mean, and I really think she is understanding what I'm saying when I sing these words to her. It's such a great song!

I'll post them both here if you want to listen. They are #1 and #5 in my Playlist. I'll see if I can get the kids to sing on video too. It's precious hearing their little voices sing such sweet words, not fully understanding all of them yet but knowing they will someday.
